Every drop of clean water is a miracle in the slums of Mathare, Kenya.
This summer, The Blessing of Water and *Wanted Alive are joining hands to bring life‑saving water filters directly into the homes of families who have never known the safety of clean drinking water.
In the slums of Mathare, children and mothers
spend hours each week for water that still makes them sick. But one gift from you can change an entire family’s future — clean water to drink, cook, and grow strong.
Hope doesn’t have to wait. You can put a water filter in a mother’s hands today.
Thank you for helping us bring health, dignity, and blessing to the people of Kenya. The Facts:
🌍 What’s actually happening with water in Mathare?
1. Where Mathare residents get water
Most households in Mathare rely on:
Private water vendors
Water kiosks scattered through the settlement
Illegal or informal pipe connections
Water delivered by carts or jerrycan sellers
These sources are not regulated, often contaminated, and frequently controlled by water cartels.
2. Why the water is still unsafe
The water supply system in Mathare has long been affected by:
Illegal connections that cause leaks and contamination
Broken or clogged pipes running through open sewage
Water cartels that manipulate supply, causing artificial shortages
High prices (up to 10× the normal rate) for water that is still unsafe to drink
Intermittent supply, forcing families to store water unsafely
These conditions lead to cholera, typhoid, and other waterborne diseases. 3. Children and mothers spend hours each week fetching water.
They often wait in long lines at kiosks.
They carry heavy jerrycans through narrow, muddy, or dangerous paths.
And the water they get is still unsafe, leading to chronic illness.
This is exactly why water filters are life‑changing in Mathare. Click here to Donate for this specific ---> Kenyan Water Project
